At the start of September, we always try to get to know our new classes better through games, poems and art activities.
We've used all these such as playing who's missing in class, our poem Names and most recently through our Art project of Silhouette Self Portraits!
The concept behind this art was that instead of a normal self silhouette, the children had to fill their silhouette with drawings of things that represent them. We brainstormed what we could include. Some of the ideas were football jerseys, favourite foods, hobbies etc.
We enlisted the help of Mrs O'Chaonfaola to draw a silhouette of a boy and a girl which was then photocopied onto A3 paper. The children got to work on their drawings and once finished carefully cut it out and glued it onto a coloured A3 background.
What the children produced was amazing!
Have a look at our twitter feed to see two slideshows of our work!
Over the last couple of weeks we have been working hard on our Gaeilge.
We have been focusing on the theme of Mé Féin. The children have become excellent at talking about themselves as Gaeilge!
Have a look at our Twitter feed to see some of our Gaelgoir's telling us about themselves and a few of the children reciting the poem an tOctapus!
A big welcome to our new 3rd class! We have almost 2 weeks completed at school already and it feels like we have never been away!
